Speculation is mounting that the next iteration of the Pikmin franchise will make an appearance in the forthcoming issue of Edge magazine.
Edge magazine readers are purporting that the latest edition of the revered publication sports what appears to be a tantalizing glimpse of a small purple blob that looks remarkably like a Pikmin in its next issue segment. Whilst this doesn’t necessarily confirm the existence of the next iteration of Pikmin, it does go some way to fuel growing speculation.

Gaming publication IGN believes that the Wii MotionPlus motion sensing accessory may be ’stuck’ inside a Wii Remote jacket, therefore forcing players to use the protective grip-proof sheath.
No word from Nintendo regarding this matter as of yet, but expect plenty of backlash from gamers discontent with the idea that they have to use the Wii Remote jacket if this controversial idea comes to light.

Bioshock, arguably one of the best games of 2007, could be coming to the Wii if a recent job listing is to be taken into consideration.
The position that’s been advertised by 2K games is a UI (user interface) programmer, preferably one that has had prior experience developing for the Wii. Whilst that doesn’t automatically mean we could see the next iteration of the Bioshock franchise on Wii, it does suggest that 2K games have something brewing in the pipeline for the console.

Rumours surrounding Kid Icarus refuse to die even though the purported developer behind the game, Factor 5, have indefinitely suspended their operations.
Apparently the development team at Factor 5 (who’re reportedly still in business) are working feverishly on an update to the Kid Icarus franchise. To further boost this rumour, a generic looking character model for the main protagonist, Pit, has surfaced online.

Online gaming publication, Gameplayer, have feverishly speculated that they expect the successor to the Wii to arrive at some point during 2010. Oh yes, another remake of the classic survival horror franchise could be hitting a Nintendo platform soon.
(Rumour) We will be treated to a full Wii-ified remake, with some additional story elements. There will be a new ’swordsman’ enemy (sword waggling minigame, anyone?) and ‘Resident Evil 4 Viewpoints’, which could mean anything – possibly 3rd-person over-the-shoulder stuff?

Whilst online gaming publication Kotaku suggested a new DS with two touch screens is on the way, Nintendo have seen fit to counteract this insubstantial claim as purely a rumour.
Apparently there are no plans for an official announcement until Christmas is out of the way.
But that’s all just “rumour and speculation”, Nintendo told GamesIndustry.biz.
